ABOUT

IMG_2337 (1).jpg

Kansas City native Mia Kodak is a musical powerhouse, a visionary artist with no creative limits and a style that defies genre boundaries. Her music is an eclectic blend of influences, seamlessly merging the raw honesty of Lauryn Hill, the boldness of Foxy Brown, and the vibrant energy of Trina and Eve while her pop sensibility evokes comparisons to Taylor Swift. Mia’s ability to craft songs that tell stories of resilience, strength, and triumph resonates deeply with listeners around the globe, positioning her as a true superstar on the rise.

Mia’s debut studio album, Guard It, is a testament to her versatility and artistry. Featuring the TikTok sensation "Take His Money," alongside standout tracks like "Wobble Wobble," "Dear Mama," and "Not About Us," the album is a powerful showcase of her potential to create hits that linger long after the music stops. Her work has not gone unnoticed, earning her recognition in The Source, HipHop Weekly, All Access ATL, and memorable performances at venues like Playhouse Nightclub.

Influenced by icons such as Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Fabolous, Mia defies genre boundaries, effortlessly blending Hip Hop, R&B, pop, afro-beat, and even elements of dancehall and soft rock. Her EP, Dancefloor Diary, introduces a new genre she calls "Brown Sugar Pop," a smooth and soulful take on pop music that further showcases her innovation and artistry. Whether she’s freestyle writing in the car during a break from her day job, penning heartfelt lyrics at home, or recording late into the night, Mia’s passion for music is palpable.

Mia’s journey into music began in her childhood, where her love for storytelling first emerged. Often seen with a camera in hand, she earned the nickname “Kodak,” a nod to her early passion for capturing moments. Life took a challenging turn during her 10th-grade year when her father’s incarceration for drug trafficking reshaped her world. This pivotal moment fueled her desire to turn pain into art, resulting in deeply personal tracks like "Dear Mama," a tribute to her mother’s strength and resilience.

Despite the challenges she’s faced, Mia’s determination remains unwavering. A graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a degree in Broadcasting Media and a minor in photography, she skillfully balances her artistic ambitions with a successful career in pharmaceutical sales. Outside the studio, Mia enjoys the simple pleasures of life—bowling, playing basketball, and hiking in Los Angeles, where she now calls home.

Looking ahead, Mia Kodak’s star continues to rise. With the release of her Dancefloor Diary EP and the highly anticipated Beauty and the Beast album with Munchie B (Inglewood native), 2024 promises to be a defining year in her career. Her ultimate ambition? To top the Billboard Hot 100 and establish Mia Kodak as a name synonymous with not just music, but an entire lifestyle brand.
